On October 5th the VOBOC community lost a dear friend, Sarah Labelle, who will forever be remembered by everyone she touched in so many ways. Her smile was infectious and her free spirit contagious. If you have come out to the Treasure Hunt or volunteered to assemble Holiday Baskets or bagged grocery with us in March, you will recognize Sarah as the Mom who volunteered with her four wonderful junior volunteers. No matter what was going on in her life she always found time to give back, and this even while battling breast cancer.
One of Sarah’s last wishes was a photo shoot with her children, which we were so grateful to be able to organize just 2 days before her passing, thanks to Melanie Wand who offered her photography services free of charge. When Sarah’s health took a turn for the worst the day after the photo shoot, Doreen quickly brought a computer and printer to her bedside so she could view the pictures. Just 3 days before her passing, we received this text message from Sarah ‘’I am so grateful to all of you for making this easier on all of us. You are a loved and valued part of our family’’. We were indeed blessed to have been graced by Sarah’s presence in our lives.
