VOBOC arranged a trip to the Bell Center to see his first ever Canadiens’ hockey game was pure ecstasy for a fan in palliative care at the Montreal General Hospital who lost both of his parents to cancer earlier this year. Steven was also treated to a meet and greet with his favorite hockey player, Max Pachioretti who offered him a hockey jersey. A special thank you goes out to Genevieve at the Montreal Canadiens Foundation for helping in making this possible. Pascal Girard, a Social Worker, witnessed Steven’s reaction and wrote this note: “I am currently working in palliative care with a huge Canadiens fan. In only a couple of days, VOBOC was able to obtain a pair of tickets to a season game opener.  This young man’s delight and surprise was unimaginable,  when I shared the good news with  him! As a new social worker, I feel honored to have had the chance to be part of this experience. Thank you VOBOC.”

Dr. Geneviève Chaput accompanied the young man to the hockey game and saw firsthand how VOBOC truly can bring joy and can impact patients with our Last Requests. We were touched by her thank you note: “I can confirm that this outing had a positive impact both clinically and emotionally for Steven. I have never seen him so happy and full of life as he was during this special evening. VOBOC was able to grant Steven a night he will never forget and it allowed him, even if for only a short while, to forget the metastatic cancer he is currently facing.”
